An informal headquarters where collaboration is at the core.

Mollie Headquarters
We transformed Mollie's new headquarters into an inspiring workspace where monumental architecture meets modern work culture. Through thorough analysis of teams and dynamics, we designed a flexible layout that accommodates both concentration and interaction. This resulted in a future-proof workplace that enhances Mollie's identity.

Fintech company Mollie found itself in the midst of a strong growth phase towards their unicorn status. The organization was spread across multiple canal houses in Amsterdam, which limited collaboration and identity. A decision was made to choose one new headquarters in a monumental building that was being renovated at the time. The building offered character but also presented significant challenges due to the restrictions of the monument status and the diversity of teams that would work there.
Our task was to develop the entire interior design for approximately 200 employees, with a layout that would support Mollie's dynamics: lively and creative, but also with space for concentration and focus. The design principles were: functional, flexible, and in line with Mollie's brand identity so that the office would be an offline reflection of this identity.
A thorough analysis of the organization and the layout of the building formed the basis for the design of the vertical layout based on interaction and sound levels. From the lively Founders Club (see project) in the basement to the quiet IT team on the third floor. To keep all open spaces workable, we designed Room Dividers (see frame) that delineate the different work teams and also serve as cabinet, whiteboard, and bulletin board elements. Additionally, we created phone booths, duo booths, and 1-on-1 spaces with rounded forms and acoustic finishes for calm and privacy.

The historical style rooms were transformed into homely meeting lounges, featuring carefully selected vintage furniture and specially chosen fabrics that align with Mollie's brand experience. By placing informal seating areas near the coffee corners on every floor, we promoted spontaneous encounters outside the work zones.
The new headquarters offers Mollie an inspiring, efficient, and recognizable work environment where teams can focus and connect. The design enhances the company's identity and aligns with their culture of openness, growth, and innovation. Since its completion, the office has developed into a central meeting place that allows both employees and visitors to experience Mollie's energy and ambition.
